Remote Student Experience

image - Remote Student ExperienceOur farm trip to Lake Cargelligo earlier this year has received a lot of positive feedback from our students and also from the health care providers who participated.

The day was organised with the help of one of our midwifery educators (who is also a Conjoint lecturer) and the manager of Lake Cargelligo Hospital. The first day was based on site in the hospital and was attended by the local GP, nursing staff, the hospital manager and our students. Lectures and workshops were presented on the unexpected birth, envenomation, farm trauma and farm health and safety. We also ran a paediatric sepsis simulation. It was a very collaborative learning group and we received great feedback. The students then camped overnight on a farm and spent the next day touring the property and discussing life on the land with a local farmer (who was their age and so they got along very well). Our students still rave about this trip.

Our students have also attended a two day workshop organised by CCCT. The students enjoyed learning with the GP registrars.
