Skills Lab

Each Campus of the Rural Clinical School has skills lab facilities which are part of the patient-centred approach adopted by the Rural Clinical School. The laboratories with their life-like “medical models”, give students the opportunity to practise and master invasive procedures such as injecting, catheterisation, lumbar puncture, stitching and male and female pelvic examinations.

Each laboratory is equipped with specially designed storage units and examination areas, a computer, TV and VCR, anatomical models such as the interactive mannequin with CD-Rom life support programs, birthing models, charts and medical instruments with an extensive range of training CDs and videos.

The Skills Laboratories are a resource and teaching tool not only for the students of the School, but also for junior medical officers and a broad range of community and regional post-graduate training activities.
