Other Information

  • You will need to submit an online application form directly to Broken Hill to finalise placement arrangements and accommodation.
  • You will need to supply your immunisation records 8 weeks prior to your arrival in order for the Risk Management Unit to process and issue a letter of compliance. Without that letter you will be unable to commence placement.
  • The Rural Clinical School - Sydney Campus can pre-pay for students' flights. Students should contact Genevieve on (02) 9385 3210 at least 4 weeks prior to the start of the term to confirm.
  • Clean linen, blankets and a pillow are provided with your accommodation - it is recommended students bring their own towel.
  • Each student must bring their Hospital ID badge and a Criminal Record Check Form. If you do not have these, you will not be able to commence the term. Speak to the Administration Office at your UNSW Sydney Clinical School for a copy of the Criminal Record Check Form.
  • Student attending Broken Hill may be assigned to the Royal Flying Doctor's Service (RFDS). They require students to provide their height and weight. Please email HBeck@gwahs.health.nsw.gov.au with your details 4 weeks prior to the start of the term.
  • Placements at Broken Hill involve activities other than hospital-based training, including week-long placements at Wilcannia, 200kms east.
  • Any half day sessions you spend with a GP during your placement should be recorded on the GP PIP Form for Rural Hospital Placements . It is the responsibility of the student to return this form (as indicated) within two weeks of the end of your placement.
